John Deere 290D Excavator arm
The John Deere 290D Excavator arm is the best in the industry. The John Deere 290D excavator arm uses new technology for higher productivity and lower operating costs. The 290D Excavator arm has a new hydrostatic transmission and a new lift-sensing system to deliver more arm force, more digging power and more reach.
The John Deere 290D excavator has a 6-cylinder, fuel-efficient engine that delivers 188 horsepower at 1,800 RPM and 511 pound-feet of torque at 1,400 RPM. It also features an automatic engine idle feature to conserve fuel when the machine is not in use. The engine also meets U.S. EPA Tier 3 emissions standards.
The tractor’s exhaust purifies itself of up to 95 percent of particulate matter and 80 percent of nitrogen oxide using a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF). This self-cleaning system does not require extra maintenance or downtime for the machine.
The tractor has a standard loader that makes it easy to load and transport gravel, dirt, sand and other materials from one place to another.
John Deere 290D Excavator bucket
We have a John Deere 290D Excavator with a 24 inch bucket attached to it. When digging in dirt, we are able to dig down 3-3 1/2 feet before the bucket is full. We have dug some in sand and we were able to dig down 10-12 feet before the bucket was full.
I am trying to figure out how deep we should be able to dig in gravel if we were only digging for about 15 minutes.
I don’t know if there is a formula that I can use or some way that I can calculate it.

John Deere 290D Excavator track shoe assembly
Before you install a new track shoe assembly on your John Deere 290D Excavator, you must remove the old one. Getting the track shoe assembly off your John Deere 290D excavator is a process that involves removing several different parts in order to gain access to the assembly.
Step 1:
Turn your excavator off and make sure it is on level ground. Pull the battery cable off of the battery. Remove all of the bolts that are holding the left track guard on, then remove the guard.
Step 2:
Remove all of the bolts that are holding the front idler arm and support bearing in place, then slide the support bearing out of its bracket. Remove the bolts that are holding the rear idler arm in place, then slide both of these arms out of their brackets and set them aside.
Step 3:
Remove all of the bolts that are holding the right-hand track guard on, then remove this piece. Remove all of the bolts that hold both sides of the rear roller frame together and pull this piece off.
Step 4:
Remove all of the bolts that hold both sides of the front roller frame together and pull this piece apart as well. Next, remove all of the nuts securing both sides of each roller.

John Deere 290D Excavator drive sprocket assembly
You can find the drive sprocket assembly between the undercarriage tracks and the final drive. The type of drive sprocket determines whether your excavator will have a sealed or open center. Sealed center sprockets are for use in harsh environments, as well as for abrasive applications. Open center sprockets are less expensive than sealed center sprockets.
The drive sprocket on your John Deere 290D Excavator provides drive to the track. The John Deere 290D Excavator uses two bottom rollers and two top rollers on each side to keep the chain engaged with the sprocket. If one or more of these parts are worn, it will affect how much torque is transferred from the motor to the chain and wheel assembly.
