A hydraulic excavator is used for digging or moving of soil or rock and helps in the formation of a particular landform. They are also used to move large rocks, piled debris and other materials. There is usually an oil supply tank attached to the rear part of the bucket which must be taken care of for the smooth functioning of the machine. Any defects in the hydraulic oil not only slow down the regular working but also affect most vital components. It is necessary to regularly check and maintain these parts as they help in moving dirt, debris and rocks up to 50 tons with ease.

Step 1. Open komatsu excavator hood or the engine compartment and locate the hydraulic fluid reservoir.

Remove the cap from the hydraulic fluid reservoir.Check the fluid level on the dipstick. The fluid should be at or near full level. If it is not, add hydraulic fluid until the level is at the full mark on the dipstick. Check the color of the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir. The fluid should be clear and amber in color. Step 2. Use a flashlight to check komatsu excavator inside the reservoir when it is dark.

If you don’t have access to a flashlight, wait until daylight and check then, using a mirror if necessary so that you can see into the reservoir more easily. Use a dipstick, if available, to check the level of hydraulic fluid in komatsu excavator . Some excavators may not have dipsticks for checking fluid levels so you will need to use another method to determine how much fluid is in there. The dipstick should be located on top of the reservoir or close by it.

Step 3. Dip the end of a wooden stick into the reservoir to check the komatsu excavator oil level if it is too high for you to see. What you want to do is simply see if there is sufficient oil in this machine as low hydraulic fluid levels can damage your machine.

Oil levels between these two marks indicate that your hydraulic fluid is at an acceptable level, while oil found below that mark indicates that you need to top off this supply.
